Mooresville Festivals

Anderson Orchard in Mooresville, Indiana The biggest annual draw in the small community of Mooresville, Indiana is the Anderson Orchards Apple Festival and Craft Fair. In this beautiful, sprawling orchard, visitors can pick their own fresh apples, visit the pumpkin patch or while away the lovely fall days of late September, checking out over fifty vendors under the Crafter Tent. There are tons of food vendors and concession stands too, plus picnic and play areas. The Festival is now famous for its fresh caramel apples and Cider Slush.

This working orchard came into being in 1969. From the first, owners Paul and Carolyn Anderson wanted to create an orchard where the customers could choose their own apples if they wanted. The Andersons still run the orchard today, and customers are still invited to walk its 150 acres full of apples, pumpkins, peaches, red raspberries, pears, nuts and plums.

The Anderson Orchard folks have, therefore, created field trips for a price of $3 per person. They give you bags to pick a half-peck of apples and a cup of cider, then they turn you loose to make an unforgettable memory with your family, friends or students.

Other festivals during the year at Mooresville are the annual “Old Settler’s Festival,” Founder’s Day and the Victoria Christmas celebration.

The Founder’s Day Festival offers a nice collection of vendors, as well as a battle of the bands, and more. The Mooresville Victorian Christmas, under the auspices of the Mooresville Revitalization group and supported by local business people, brings together all the residents every year, as well as guests from local towns such as Young, Five Points, Brookmoor, Brooklyn, Lake Hart, Monrovia, Joppa and Plainfield, as well as Indianapolis, only ten minutes away by car. The great attractions are Santa Claus himself and the all-pervasive atmosphere of genuine, Midwestern, small town America, a magnetic holiday nostalgia for every type of resident of Indiana.
